I believe it was in the late 70's that my friend, Russell "Bits" Lyons took me to "The Slyme Factory" to do some Christmas shopping. Bits kew Jim from working the Renaissance Faire. On the way we stopped at "Davey Jones Liquor Locker" to get negotiating supplies, which Bits said were necessary. We spent several hours selecting pieces and swapping tales. I was taken by a ceramic chastity belt he produced, and admired the photo of the young lady who had modeled it. He had a few of the Owl pieces so I got one as well as a "Flying Horse" mug which he said was from a run where the glaze had gone weird and had turned out opalecent. We left with our booty and and large smiles.

Good description of shopping at The Slyme Factory. I have an owl too, but mine is matte.

I remember that run of horse cups - they were special and I have one of them as well We were playing with different glazes and made wings and bodies different colors by painting the inside of the mold with a different clay prior to the first pouring.
