Some interesting Rumph stuff on ebay this week. Lots of early stuff and some unigue items too. That paint brush mug is a sweet piece. Aside from it being Jims personal item, is a unique piece? I cant find another hunchback mug on the website. Maybe I overlooked something?

That family crest. From Jim to his dad as a Christmas present. How cool is that?

Bidding on some of these items is going nuts!

So, I wonder, what prompts the sale to happen now?

I wonder how much more will be listed from the estate in the days/weeks to come?

Is this all of it? Or is there a warehouse full of stuff waiting for a slow release to the public?

I was just wondering what everyone uses or does special to clean your Rumph pieces when you get them? Not just the pipes but all the other ceramic as well? I have received some pieces that are pretty gross and caked with dirt/cig tar. So I was just wondering if anyone has a routine when getting a new piece or something that has worked good. I recently cleaned a piece with just water on a rag but am kind of scared to use anything more than that without hearing from other collectors.

Thanks
Kati

Hi all!

I'm a brand new member and if I was a little younger I'd be buying some of the cool stuff I see here rather than trying to sell the piece I already have.

I've got the Rumph Demon Drinking Horn that can be seen at my shop, http://thefatladyhasntsungyet.blogspot.com/2015/01/jim-rumph-pottery-demon-drinking-horn.html. There's a complete description with lots of pictures and a handy, dandy Paypal button if you decide it's got to be yours. You can also contact me on the homepage if you have any questions.

Title: Gremlin:

Year: 1975

Artist: Jim Rumph

Company: Mind Circus

Medium: Pottery

Piece: Bong/Tobacco Pipe

1975 tobacco water pipe created by Missouri native, California transplant, Jim Rumph. This piece is called "the gremlin" and measures 6 1/2 inches tall. It was rated as extremely rare in 2003 and was valued at $300.00 (http://www.therumph.com/showItem.php?item=346).  Rarely do you see these pieces with the pottery around the aluminum slide in-tact.  Typically the pottery falls off from tapping the slide to clean it.  Now, a decade later, it is evidenced that Rumph collectors do not part with their pieces. I have procured this piece, in pristine condition, from an auction. No chips or cracks. The original slide (with pottery) is still on tact. These pieces are extremely rare collector pieces.  PM me if you are interested and I will send you pictures ASAP.

With the changing laws in Colorado and Washington these are prized collector pieces of art that any aficionado will want to proudly display.  Don't miss your opportunity to own one.
