I have had him since about 1985. There is a tray for your 'tobacco' and his 2 fingers are sticking up to hold your 'cigarette' for you. I would say this is rare is mint condition because the fingers stick up and would be vunerable to breakage although Smaug's fingers are indeed intact. There are 2 small chips but not where there is any detail. I can't believe he has lasted this long. LONG LIVE SMAUG!

One which was recently sold on eBay, was marked "SIGNATURE SERIES © RUMPH 8H". The "H" could represent "8" since "H" is the eighth letter of the alphabet. If so, this piece would actually have been produced in 1988 instead of 1984. (The "H" might have been mistaken as a "4".)

Purchased in 1987 after I relocated to Phoenix, AZ. Had to have it the moment I laid eyes on it. About 20 years ago I made an insert to hold stick incense. ashes drop in tray and extra sticks are stored in the head. I really enjoy having it around. From what I've read, I think I now know why.
