Lionstone Whiskey Water Pitcher

This water Pitcher is 8-1/2" high and everyone that was made was decorated differently. It is not signed by Rumph but many Rumph collectors believe He had a hand in it's making.

Recently an ebayer sold one of these Lionstone lion pitchers marked Joe Kauenburger. So while there is a similarity in glaze to some of Jim's pieces, many ceramists used an iron oxide wash on their stoneware pieces. Just look at the cutesy face of the lion. Jim did that? I don't think so. I visited Jim's studio several times in 1973. There was no lion pitcher there then.
